This song was created out of a feeling of helplessness. The place we call home (Nosara, Guanacaste, Costa Rica) is experiencing a phenomenon known as gentrification. The song seeks to shed light on and reflect on this process, which has been taking place for a long time in different forms and has become a global trend that deeply saddens us.
The song is an attempt to explore this issue while taking into account the different actors involved in these situations. Our main intention with this video is to bring this issue to the forefront and, hopefully, inspire collective solutions for a more balanced way of living together, where all living beings have the basic right to a dignified home.
Here is a definition of gentrification:
Gentrification: The process of renovating or transforming an urban area, usually a low-income or deteriorated neighborhood, which leads to the displacement of its original residents by people with greater purchasing power.
